Gorilla Glue as Hair Spray

Gorilla Glue as Hair Spray

People who have undergone hair transplantation or come to our Northern, N.J. hair salon for regular service of their hair restoration units know they need to be more careful than the everyday guy or girl who is not wearing hair. In their journey with Guci Image our clients just need to be more vigilant in making sure they don’t overuse a hairdryer, when they attempt DYI coloring, keeping up with appointment scheduling. And certainly, we hope nobody attempts self-inflicted damage like Tessica Brown did recently when she used Gorilla Glue instead of/as hairspray!

By now, a viral social media sensation, the Louisiana lady posted video and pictures—viewed by over a million people on her Instagram—of how she sprayed the infamous unbreakable glue onto her braided ponytail. She applied the glue a month ago, and when realizing she was in trouble, washed her hair fifteen times, to no avail. As she realized her dilemma, Tessica posted, “Look: My hair, it don’t move. You hear what I’m telling you? It don’t move.”

Just this past Saturday, Tessica continued her hair woes posting by showing the world a picture of herself at St. Bernard Parish Hospital. She went to the medical center to undergo treatment after crowdsourcing for solutions, one of which came from Gorilla Glue itself. The company suggested Tessica use rubbing alcohol on her head but added that seeing as she had the glue on her hair for a month, it was “likely fractured at the root.”

Not words anyone ever wants to hear!

Cautionary tale? Well, not for most people. Looking for social media attention, no matter how? Possibly. Relevant to a Guci Image client? Not really. But there is lots we even do by accident that can damage our hair.

It’s always best to err on the side caution…

and stay away from that Gorilla Glue!
