Another Bad Hair Day

Another Bad Hair Day

It certainly begins to sound like a broken record here at Guci Image, but we warn potential customers all the time and repeat to our dyed-in-the-wool hair wearers; one needs to vet their hair technicians and salons to the nth degree. As much to avoid bad service, overpaying, and what again just happened this week, as reported here.

A young woman in the UK went into a local London-based salon for hair extensions to help cover her hair loss. Costing nearly two thousand U.S. dollars, the shop’s owner, a supposed award-winning “extension specialist” (red flag #1, what award?), offered to weave her extension magic. But almost immediately after having the extensions worked into her existing hair, they began to cause the customer untold problems (pain mostly), and back the lady went, paying another $65.00 to that same “expert” salon owner to help fix her issue. That fix caused not only the extensions to fall out but take the client’s remaining hair with it, which led further to her scalp bleeding and blistering. Seeking a diagnosis from a dermatologist, the beleaguered customer was told her scalp was permanently damaged.

The ‘award-winning’ extension expert denied her customer a refund, offering her a “new hair system” instead. Suffice it to say the customer declined that offer.

These kinds of stories hit us at Guci Image especially hard. As much as sympathizing with anyone who goes through the obvious pain, humiliation, and cost that this UK lady did, we know how important it is to find the right solution to balding and thinning. Again, we urge everyone, potential customers to our NJ salon or those visiting any hair cutter, colorist, stylist, etc., to please vet to get some recommendations, read some reviews, and keep a sharp eye out for supposed ‘experts’ and award winners.

The next scalp you save could be yours.
