Hair Care Facts

Never Brush Wet Hair –

When your hair is wet, right after the shower, it can be too tempting to comb what seem like freshly conditioned, silky strands. While hair feels easier to brush when wet, your locks actually becomes 3-times weaker when wet than when dry! So, make sure that you brush your hair before you shower and comb when the locks are dry. Brushing wet hair will wreck havoc on your tresses.

Shampoo Your Scalp, Condition Your Hair –

You may have heard many hair commercials saying that you should lather your locks from root to ends. Well, not only is this a waste of shampoo, but also it’s bad for your hair. Shampoos contain chemicals and washes away oils, which is great for cleansing your scalp, but excessive use of shampoo can damage your hair. Conditioner, on the other hand, is designed to moisturize and detangle your hair, but conditioner on your scalp leads to limp locks, a greasy scalp and makes you have to wash your hair more often.

Avoid Cotton Pillowcases –

Cotton pillowcases are bad for your hair. No matter the thread count, these pillow cases can snag your strands and cause breakage. It is better you switch to satin or silk pillowcases for healthier hair!

Avoid Highlights From The Sun –

Highlights from sun are as bad as bleach. Many people continue squirting lemon onto their hair with the hopes of the sun highlighting the hair “naturally.” Unfortunately, while those highlights might be natural, they are quite unhealthy for your mane. When it comes to highlighting, head to a trusted hair stylist who can give you the same look, with much more control over the process and, ideally, without much damage.

Avoid Blow-dry or Iron –

If you wish to use curling irons, dryers, straighteners and other products on a regular note, then you have to forget having healthy hair. Heat styling is only bad for our hair when it goes too far – or you’re styling with more than one styling tool. Let hair air dry and then heat style that too rarely.

Caution Before Taking a Dip –

Are you hitting the pool or ocean? Then make sure to run your hair under tap water first! Your hair can only absorb a certain amount of water so in wetting hair with tap water first you prevent the chlorine or salt from penetrating the hair and causing damage.
